title crafty chinese new year freebies

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! I wish you a wonderful year of the Rooster.

CNY is such an important event here in Hong Kong that I wanted to make a special post about it and give you some craft ideas for these few days of rest and celebrations.

To celebrate this new year I have not one but two freebies for you. As usual these grids are for your personal use only and cannot be used for any commercial purpose.

Chinese New Year Rooster

The first one is a beaded rooster of course! It was prepared in collaboration with perlesandco.com

You can find the tutorial in French here.

Here is the list of the miyuki delica beads colours available on perlesandco.com:

You are done.

You can mount this beadwork as a brooch or a necklace and enjoy Chinese new year celebrations!

Chinese New Year Lantern

I really love lanterns, I find them so poetic and pretty.  They are everywhere in Hong Kong for Chinese New Year and I love the atmosphere they are creating.Miyuki beaded chinese lantern

I have used only two colours for this one: DB0031 gold plated and DB 0602 dyed silver lined red.

Here is the grid:

I have used some 2.5mm diameter 0.5mm thick jump rings to link a few chains at the bottom of the lantern and a necklace chain at the top to create a pendant.

The pendant will be soon available in my Etsy shop.

Here are some pictures of CNY celebrations in Hong Kong that I wanted to share with you. I hope you will like these freebies and happy beading everyone!

You can then make a pendant or a brooch with your beadwork. Check my previous posts out to learn how to make those:
